843 Shop has officially been up and running for a year now, and there is no way I could have done it without all the support from those around me. Thank you to everyone who has bought a shirt and given me some kind words that have helped fuel me to go a little further.
When I first started this process, all I knew is that I wanted to create a brand that represented Charleston and the people that live here. Our products aren't geared for tourists, although anyone is more than welcome to buy and wear 843 Shop gear. I want to be a brand that is inclusive and welcoming. And I wanted to have shirts for people that are incredibly comfortable and fun to wear.
I didn't know anything (other than what I saw on countless hours of youtube videos) about screen printing when I started. And I ruined countless shirts along the way. There were many times I thought the only thing I could do was quit. Frustration has been a companion on this journey, but I refuse to let frustration push me to quit. Every day I learn something and every day I get a little better at some aspect of this multifaceted process of building a brand. I want all of Charleston to grow and become better, and I hope to be a part of that process.
This is the first of what will hopefully be a weekly blog post. Just this week we released our Drink Local shirt with the palmetto labeled beer can. A similar shirt with a coffee cup will be printed in the next few days. These shirts are my first multi-color design for 843 Shop (I've done a couple for other restaurants).
Hope you are all enjoying the shirts and the brand.
